Daniel Schoenheimer, Andrea McCafferty, Jana Hayden and Jim Hayden are taking part in an exhibit titled “East End Illuminations.” The exhibit will take place at Ashawagh Hall Friday through Sunday, December 30 – January 1.
Cocktail reception will be held on Friday, December 30, from 5 to 8 pm.

Eligible for 2008-09 Grants:
Emerging Fields may include digital arts, gaming, sound art, architecture, design, interdisciplinary projects, and new genres.
Innovative Literature may include poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and genre-defying literary work.
Performing Arts may include dance, music theater, experimental music performance, nontraditional opera, spoken word, theater/performance art, puppetry, and interdisciplinary projects. Under Emerging Fields, how does Creative Capital define digital arts, new genres, andinterdisciplinary projects?
Digital arts may include electronic art, net art, open source technology, locational technology, connectedness, wireless technology, gaming, networked art, experimental programming and software, hacking, robotics, blogs, VJs, etc.
New genres and interdisciplinary projects may include work that is a hybrid form (art & community, tactical interventions, etc.) or at the intersections of disciplines—both within the arts (art & architecture, art & design, etc.) and outside the field (art & social justice, art & biotechnology, art & ecology, art & genetics, etc.) as well as immersive and interactive art, installation, and networked projects.

The ART OF PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW 2008 is an international exhibition of photographic art which will take place April 25 – May 23, 2008 at the elegant Lyceum Theatre Gallery, located in the historic Gaslamp Quarter of downtown San Diego, California. The opening reception gala will be on Friday, April 25th.

Images created via any form of photography will be accepted for consideration (i.e. shot on film, shot digitally, unaltered shots, alternative process, mixed media, digital manipulations, montages, etc.), so long as part of the image is photographically created.
JURIED COMPETITION:
Carol McCusker is the Judge for the Art of Photography Show 2008. Dr. McCusker is Curator of Photography at the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego. She has curated over 40 exhibitions at MoPA and has written numerous books, catalogs, essays and articles on various aspects of photography. Carol McCusker is highly respected in the global photographic community, so it’s a significant honor to be selected by her.

The selected winner recieves 10 prints up to 44×60 inches on canvas or museum quality paper (approximately a $1500-$2000 value) to be shown in a solo exhibition in our main gallery from January 10-February 1, 2008. The show will be widely promoted and will include a reception for the artist.
Second place prizes: Five second place winners will receive one print of their work up to 24×36 inches ($150-$200 in value) to be included in upcoming group shows. Second place winners will be scheduled into group shows within twelve months of announcement of winners.
Consideration is given to placing these works in shows appropriate to their style, genre and/or content. These shows will be widely promoted and will include a reception for the artists.
Special consideration will be given to all entrants for inclusion in future shows at LACDA. Many entrants from past competitions have already been included in our exhibits.

Winners announced: December 18, 2007
Winners exhibit: January 10-February 1, 2008
Registration fee is $30US (three images).
